Tobacco – Smoke Free Islamabad, CADD signed MoU with Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) Islamabad on World No Tobacco Day 2017. And PIEAS inaugurated as Tobacco Smoke Free Facility too.

PIEAS is recognized as a preeminent federal public university devoted to higher education in specific disciplines of engineering, natural sciences and formal sciences. Although PIEAS offers BS, MS, M Phil and PhD degree programs, yet the postgraduate degree programs dominate. In addition to the degree programs, PIEAS also offers specialized short courses to engineers, scientists and other professionals for their continuing professional development.

Administration of PIEAS has taken environment friendly initiative and protected the nonsmoker’s health. An MoU on tobacco control signed between Tobacco – Smoke Free Islamabad, CADD and PIEAS on May 3012017. Dr. Minhaj us Siraj, Project Director/Deputy DG-CADD represented the CADD and Dr. Nasir Majid Mirza, Rector represented PIEAS. Dr. Minhaj-us-Siraj, shared this piece of information while speaking at the seminar arrange in connection with declaration of the PIEAS – a smoke-free facility.
Discussing the ill-effects of tobacco use on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, in line with this year’s World No Tobacco Day theme of ‘Tobacco: a threat to development,’ Dr. Minhaj-us-Siraj emphasized on the development goals related to poverty, health, child education, gender equity, climate, life under water, and peace. At the end an inauguration ceremony of tobacco smoke free facility was conducted.
